THE PARAMOUNT BOOK OF BLUES (1927) Mainspring Press Collection The New York Recording Laboratories announced its first edition of The Paramount Book of Blues in 1924, following its acquisition of the Black Swan label, but no copies of that edition have ever been discovered. A second edition (pictured above) was produced in 1927, featuring artist photos and some rather inventive biographies. Also included were scores for 30 blues hits transcribed from Paramount 78 records, supplied by NYRL's publishing affiliate, the Chicago Music Publishing Company.
